The entrance to the grounds is on the south side of Wisconsin Route 23. The driveway is flanked by 2 large brick pillars. The Kraft Centre is approximately 1 1/2 miles down this driveway. What things should I bring?

  • Casual and comfortable clothing for dressing in layers.
  • Hair Dryer
  • Refillable water bottle.
  • Chair for the campfire.
  • Your dancing shoes.

What do I need to know about the GLCC?

The rooms are not equipped with hair dryers. You are encouraged to bring your own shampoo, conditioner and hair dryer, but GLCC is happy to provide them at the front desk if it is impossible or impractical for you to bring them. Because GLCC is a reflective retreat center, the rooms do not have TVs in them. However, TVs are provided in hotel lounges to watch a program together, and there is high speed Internet for streaming on your device in your room.

What about lodging?

Lodging registration is the responsibility of each attendee. GLCC policy requires a pre-paid 50% night’s lodging as a deposit.

If you do not want the Friday dinner (5-6pm) you can note this while making your online reservation, or by calling GLCC at 920-294-3323. It will be removed from your reservation with a $16 reduction in meal costs. Reservations made after April 15 will be assessed a $2 fee per meal. When you check-in for your room, you will receive meal tickets for the meals that you reserved. All meals will be in the Kraft Centre Dining Room. People with special dietary needs (vegan, gluten-free, etc.) must make advance arrangements on the computer through the GLCC website. A link to this website can be found at www.acafg.org or www.glcc.org. The kitchen will make accommodations with prior notice. This must be done at least two weeks prior to your arrival. You will receive a confirmation of your request by e-mail. Notify the kitchen when you arrive for your meals that you have requested a special diet.

For walk-in Workshop participants and others not staying in the lodge, there normally are no additional tickets for individual meals available at the Kraft Centre registration desk.

What types of events will be happening this weekend?

All social events are open to everyone attending the workshop.

  • A campfire each evening, 9-11 pm. For your comfort you may want to bring a chair and blankie. There are benches around the campfire.
  • A social/dance/game event in the Braydon Case Room Saturday night starting at 9:00 p.m.  There will be a CD player, so bring your favorite CD’s if you wish to dance or just listen to music.  If there is a game you like to play, please do bring it.
  • A meditation room open Saturday and Sunday as scheduled.
  • There are a variety of places to explore and hike on the property and along the lakefront.
  • Raffle tickets will be available for $1 each or 6 for $5. The volunteers have been specially trained to tempt you with a lot of guilt and manipulation. The drawing will occur on Saturday evening and you must be present to win.

Can you tell me more about the meetings?

The heart of this event is the wide range of topics available to aid us on our journey.

The format is very simple:

  1. A brief quiet time followed by the Serenity Prayer
  2. The LEAD reads the printed Guidelines, and then gives a 2-3 MINUTE LEAD related to the topic, sharing his/her own experience, strength, and hope. (If the meeting leader exceeds these guidelines, other members at the meeting are invited to raise their hands and remind the leader of the appropriate meeting format.)
  3. Open sharing by members. Please allow everyone who wishes time to share.
  4. Approximately 10 minutes before the beginning of the next session, join in a circle and close with a prayer of your choice, the Serenity Prayer or the “Our Father.”
  5. The LEAD fills in the evaluation/suggestion report and returns it to the registration table.

Is smoking allowed?

GLCC regulations prohibit smoking indoors in any facility including the sleeping rooms. Smoking “outdoors” is permitted. In order to provide an atmosphere that is healthiest  and most comfortable for the majority, please smoke 15 feet away from the doorways.

What about other 12 Step groups?

We invite you to use this weekend as a time to express yourself at the deepest level you can, trusting that the words coming from your heart will touch our hearts and yours also. The greatest gifts come when we share honestly from our heart about our own experience, strength, and hope.

We understand that many of the people who come to this event come from other 12-step groups, each with their own traditions.  Welcome!  Our Al-Anon sixth tradition reminds us that we do not "endorse, finance, or lend our name to any outside enterprise”.

Can I leave early?

Sometimes there is a temptation to start ‘going home’ mentally or even physically before the program ends Sunday at approximately 12:30 pm. We encourage you to stay for the entire Sunday morning program. The closing is a special journey created just for you.

Check-out time for the sleeping rooms is 10:00 a.m.

We look forward to seeing you very soon. Be safe and enjoy your journey and the loving voices you hear along the way.

Any final thoughts?

In consideration of others, please turn off cell phones and similar devices during meetings, speaker times, and the closing. There will be a message board to communicate with other people at the event. Guests can receive outside messages at the Kraft Centre registration desk.
